Max-Gain Sys. is a fiberglass manufacturer acclaimed by a number of veteran Dagorhirrim. On their product list are 8 ft. round fiberglass tubes. For spear cores they have 1" OD tubes with 1/8" thick walls. They weigh 2 lbs. and run $10.00 apiece (+ $2.00 for packaging). If we order 10 cores, at 5 lbs. each (2lbs. + 3 lb. box) shipping will come to $20.50. Of course UPS ground may charge an additional $7.00 handling fee...AND an order of 10 or more gets us a 10% discount.

So today, Lotus informed me that she has a sewing machine (albeit a small one) that she's going to let us use to make garb. This is really, really awesome, since there are several people lacking garb right now who could probably get some good use out of this.

Now, I'm definitely not an expert seamstress, but I've made a few things now myself, so if people want help making something (or if you're looking for patterns to make a specific tunic or something) please feel free to ask either myself ...

So, it seems like EVA is like the mythril of the Dagorhir world. I've hear a lot about its qualities, as well as how expensive it is. I'd like to use some for at least a couple of weapons, but I'd like to get the best deal on it that I can find. If I can't find it for less than $30 for 47" of 1/2" thickness like I found on one website, then I'll probably just pass on it for a while. Does anyone know where to get good deals on EVA? I did a search for posts on EVA with no results, so ...

From what I understand of the rules, the striking edge of a bladed weapon must be at least 1.25" wide. But I've seen a few sword tutorials that call for beveling the edge until it appears to be thinner than that. So I'm confused. What do weapons checkers look for when they're checking the dimensions of the weapon?

I've decided to give myself a long-term dag project that will hopefully benefit not only myself but other fighters as well. Over the next six years I plan to make sixty weapons of varying shapes, sizes and styles. Below is a rough list of weapons I'd like to make. I'm spreading it out over six years because I only make weapons between May and August. I'm at Truman the rest of the time, and I rarely have the time or location to make weapons, and nowhere to store them when they're finished.

I know several people have jobs and other hobbies that seem to eat up a lot of their time. Since I don't have a job, I'd be happy to make weapons for anyone who wants them. I should mention some things though:

1. If you bring me the materials and tell me what you want made, I'll make it for free and I'll try to have the weapon finished quickly, but I'll be working at my own pace. If you bring materials to a practice I'll only guarantee that the weapon be finished within 3 practices.

Because I feel like rambling...

I've noticed a lot of people using 3/8" fiberglass rods for strong, lightweight sword cores. And I've also noticed that their sword tips blow out very fast. I think this is due to the small diameter of the core not being secured well enough and the core foam being torn up by the repeated impact of combat. Generally speaking, the smaller diameter of the rod increases the force put on the core layer of foam, leading to blown tips. While I am not personally ...

Started off with a 3' core 1/2" in diameter. It's fiberglass, so I taped the ends to prevent splintering.

Next I dapped on a piece of foam to the ends and taped it on as well.

My hat is off to Malfurion. Since he decided to pursue chainmail, he wanted to sell the leather armor he made, and I bought it off of him. It's great work, and I wanted to thank him for all to see. Hopefully after Wednesday's practice here in Rolla I'll have a picture or two to post of it. Thanks again, Malfurion.

Does anyone have any experience with DAP literally losing stickiness when exposed to direct sunlight or heat for extended periods of time (Say, three or four hours)? I noticed that after sitting near my window today, in sunlight, one of my blue swords seems to have half the foam peeled away. I understand it may just not have been glued properly, but this looked more like an outside factor had made the DAP incredibly hard. The foam has started curl off the PVC core as a result. Note that the weapon ...

Does anyone have any specific pointers when it comes to dual-core fiberglass and/or javelins with fiberglass cores? Some good cores you should use: 1/2" PVC(Not CPVC, this flexes too much), 1/2" fiberglass. Now, ...
