| 4.7.4. A shield may not be taller than the distance between the wielder’s chin and their ankles, nor wider than 3 feet. 4.7.5. The minimum diameter of a shield is 12 inches. 4.7.6. Shields may be virtually any shape, but must have handles and/or arm-straps. If a shield is made to strap onto the body and has no means to carry it on the fighter’s arm, it is not allowed. As with all weapons rules, Weapons-Checkers and Heralds have the final size in determining what is a shield versus what is armor. there you go _________________ the blood of the innocent shall not run tonight- Tyr the BloodMoon champion

| Yeah, even a buckler has to be 12 inches. I think historically bucklers may have been smaller than that, but then again I don't think they were used against the kinds of weapons we use them against. And what about Red, the guy who came to practices in Blue Springs? He wore a shield on his back. Was he breaking the rules or did it have an arm strap that he didn't use? _________________ I shed a tear for every drop of blood drawn by my blade. | Red had arm straps on his shield. @ Summer: For a little more clarification on minimum shield size, the rule as quoted from the MOA is outdated and needs to be revised next RWC. The rule should read "4.7.4. A shield may not be taller than the distance between the wielder’s chin and their ankles, nor a wider circumference than 3 feet. 4.7.5. The minimum circumference of a shield is 12 inches." _________________ Guardian Realm Administrator haven@dagorhir.com"Or I will Moderator all your butts laugh do a little dance and eat a scone" -Turrin barTurrin |

| Circumference of 12 inches? That seems really small; like 4 inch round buckler small (or a 5x2 rectangle). |

| It sounds odd I know, but the term "circumference" (or arc length) is used to keep people (Rome >.<) from building semi-circle shields. Historically, shields NEVER were rounded enough to even resemble semicircles. So, 3 feet arc length is used. _________________ Guardian Realm Administrator haven@dagorhir.com"Or I will Moderator all your butts laugh do a little dance and eat a scone" -Turrin barTurrin |

| Arc length makes more sense. I was thinking around the outside edge when you said circumference. |

| Yeah, i agree with Iohn. I've seen shields that were basically half cylinders which is just silly. Curved slightly is fine, but other than that can get ridiculous. |
