So, Chi Omega saw our article in the paper, and, due to this year's homecoming theme being Miners of the Round Table, were wondering if we would fight with them and/or for them at their house's front yard and/or roof this Thursday at one of their homecoming parties. Afterwards, we can have refreshments, etc. They sounded really interested in us and said they wanted to learn more about us, so we might want to consider having an additional practice or something there. If you don't know, Chi Omega is a sorority, so we might be able to get some more girls interested in the club. Thoughts?

According to Iohn, Kappa Sigma has asked us to do something similar, hopefully he will give us some more info on that. So, things may be complicated.

I vote no on Kappa Sigma and yes to Chi Omega. My reasoning is simple: We need more GIRLS on campus involved in boffer club, and while boys are always awesome to have more of, I think it would do our club some good to try and get some more girls interested in the sport. I can't think of a better way to do that than to help them win a contest.

I think that's a pretty good point. So, I'll try to get some specifics from the person that contacted me, and maybe we can see who's interested at practice.

If you have the time to do both why not? Seems stupid to deny yourselves a chance to recruit.

I must say, my first reaction when I heard about this was "No, we are not here simply for your amusement" But, after reading the actual post, I think it's not a bad Idea. Of course, garb should be required IMO.

Yeah, it will be a fun chance to fight and recruit, but only if they take us seriously, i'm not really into just being a decoration

I definitely agree on not being decoration and on wearing garb. The person I talked to said they'll come to practice tomorrow at 3:45 to go over details. (I'm trying to see if they can come a bit later when more people will be there) So, if possible, we could use some people there earlier than 4, also, has anybody made any loaner gear? I've got a roll of foam for anybody willing to make stuff.

i always carry guns with my dag stuff, just in case....and that is a negative on the loner, cause i don't have any dap, and three of my weapons had core separation...3! all in the same day

They agreed to show up between 4 and 4:30, actually, in the hopes that they could just present to the entire club. Make sure to drag everybody you can to practice.

Can you guys let us know how many people are coming from your group so that we know how much to make for dinner? Crab rangoon seems to be a favorite here, so I want to make sure there's enough! and as far as making weapons for us thanks! it can be a tad tricky the first time but it can be done. generally the supplies needed is as follows for a regular sword:

30 inches of .5" pvc
blue camping foam, non-egg crate. the flat blue stuff
Dap - (contact cement, in the red can, original formula)

pvc is at lowes, and the rest is at wal-mart.

Correct me if I'm wrong ladies, but I think they meant that they wanted to make weapons for themselves, so that they can fight with us. If you do want to make weapons for yourselves, you can find some tutorials here:

I would recommend if you really want to make swords that you start with this tutorial here:

The flash tutorial is pretty straightforward and tells you just about everything you need to know to do it right the first time. If you decide to make them, do it somewhere you don't have to worry about making a small mess, and be prepared to spend at least 2 hours. Foamsmithing can be a lot of fun, but not everyone enjoys it. If you guys don't have weapons by tomorrow, don't worry too much, we have enough to lend to other people.

yeah and i would recommend you also make these in a well ventalated area if you use dap, it is quite strong.
