The History of Haven

The History of Haven, as chronicled by Cyrano De Madrid. Comments are welcome ,but, this history is being compiled using information from both within and without Haven so there is likely to be discrepancies from what you have heard before.

Chapter I
Robert Hamnus, Haven's first founder.

....... i thought the histories of the people of haven was its history now im confuseded

that is wat we agreed on while i was still help forming it, we decided that we didn't want a backstory so as to not intentally/accidently insult alterra, and to help ease things out

Eh, just doing what Iohn and kairi asked me to do.

Robert Hamnus was a paragon of humans. He was fleet of foot, strong and hardy, had a silver tongue, and was as smart as can be. Like all men such as he, blessed in a hundred ways more then common men, he had a fatal flaw.

Some men joke he was brought down by God, or cursed by the devil. Others say he was a demon in disguise. But those men are all fools. All of humanity is fallen. We are all sinful. Failure to understand this is failure to understand history. Robert was a man that was sick in the head and nothing more. He claimed to be a victim his entire life. Let this chapter be a lesson to those who glorify the outcast, the homeless, and the refugee without giving a thought to how they came to be that way.

Robert was brought into this world many leagues from where he ended. He was born to a cobbler and his fat little wife. When the cobbler found his wife with child they were overjoyed, for she had been barren for many years. On the day the child was born the cobbler realized he had no name prepared. The joy of finally having a son was all he had thought about for months. For, after all, having no known father himself and with his own name (Dirt) unfit for a childs name, much less anyones, he had run out of all the sensible ways to name a newborn. At this point Dirt thought of his childhood, he thought of the torment of the other children, the monk that was kind to him, and the monk's stories in particular. Dirt's favorite story had always been the story of Sir Robert, a brave knight that fought and died for God. Dirt had always wished to be like Sir Robert but his clubbed foot and weak body made that impossible. So, with all his father's dreams and regret put into him he was named Robert, in the hope that he could do what his father could not.

Note to everyone who is not DeMadrid:
His chosen vocation is Bard. Since we have absolutely no history at all, he's just going to have fun writing some things up and using his creative powers to amuse and inspire. If he mentions specific people and they don't like it, then I'd see why you'd complain. But he actually doesn't even know anything about Alterra, so I don't think you have to worry about it. O.o;

I'm not worried, i'm not even apart of this realm, i was merely clearifying something with my brother.

That is not the reason we decided to build Haven's story based on its citizens'. We established this idea for the sake of our citizens' freedom of creativity with their backgrounds.

The loosest tale of Haven's beginning is that it was founded long, long ago (so long in fact that it is widely believed it always existed.) It is a refuge for those in need of shelter and a home. All are welcome, "good" and "evil". so long as the peace is kept.
