I posed a question on the main boards of an idea Kairi had. It arose from the hatred of beatsticks in general, but the idea is one I thought was a good one, and I'm going to see if the Rolla province can playtest it on thursday.

Blunt weapons; ie. barrel maces, clubs, flails, battlewands, pixiesticks, quarterstaves, ect. inflict "green" damage, but may be treated as blue and/or red weapons where armor is concerned. For example: an unarmored person could lose all four limbs to a blunt, and still live. Similar to how a spear leaves limbless torsos. An armored person struck with a blunt (blue or red) would take the hit as per the official Dagorhir rules until the armor was destroyed.

The argument on the main boards were that it would add undue complexity to the game, but for a scenario battle or even a playtest, it could be fun. Especially considering the number of blunts the Rolla province has. If anyone else would like to consider playtesting this as well, let us know.

I feel I should explain why I dislike clubs better, since you didn't. -.-;

When you lose two limbs to sword strikes, it's a reasonable assumption that you would bleed to death and die. A strike from a sword would effectively cut off your arm. My issue is that clubs and beat sticks wouldn't cut an arm off, only damage it to where it can't be used anymore. Basically, getting hit in an arm and a leg by a club wouldn't kill you, it would just hurt like a bee sting. >.<
The idea for this is that a club would deal damage the same way greens do in that you can't die from hits to limbs, only strikes to the torso. Does that make sense? O.o;

I think it'd be fun to mess with, though it might be so complicated that I won't like it. -.-;

Yeah, I understood that reasoning. The problems I foresee are strikes from behind, in which case you might not be able to identify the weapon as a sword or a blunt weapon. However, being attacked from behind usually results in a torso shot, so it might not be too much of a problem. Let me know how your play testing goes.

A few things to chew over.

Realism.

If I bash your arms with a metal laced cudgle, there will most likely be alot of compound fractures. Thus there will be bleeding, and most likely shredding all the veins, arteries, and muscles as you run around allowing your arms to flop.

If you have had multiple limbs bashed beyond use, then your are simply awaiting a coupe de-grassy. geek

I would be more inclined to get rid of the green=limp limb rule than adding to it. I hate having to correct new people all the time on it.

while it does make my war hammer less deadly i think it sounds like a fun test..the only problem i can see is that nearly every weapon in rolla is a red sword! lol jk....well not really.

and The whole "two hits you die" with blunt limp shots also makes sense because in battle that would effectively screw you over. if you got bashed in any combination, you would be in agony not to mention a very easy target, so in all actuality, you are as good as dead
