| Duct-tape is heavy, but you can use it. Cloth tape works well, and is lighter than duct-tape. You can sew a long tube like Alric of Drentha does for the lightest. Or just about any other tape.
I suggest againts duct-tape for both the weight, and when it tears it destroys the courtesy padding.

| It must have a yellow tip. Go with something stretchy.
As for the shaft...you could sew a tube of cloth, or use cloth/athletic tape. I think the majority of Dagorhir uses athletic tape.

| How do you make your Javies Orrin? Just basic materials and construction. You make pretty decent javs. | |

| Cloth tape is nice, but i actually prefer electrical tape. Automotive electrical tape is dirt cheap and easy to find. It's sturdy, and lighter weight than duct tape. Plus I like the look and feel of it. As with any tape, you need to make sure you don't get overzealous and compress the foam underneath. It really depends on what you're looking for. if weight is a serious issue, I'd go with cloth tape, or a cloth cover. remember with a cloth cover to keep it nice and tight, if the cover is too baggy, it'll create weird wind resistance, and alter the flight of the jav. Never wrap any weapon with duct tape, it's just a bad idea. | |

| yeah, that weight rule is a pain. I have a 6.5 ft. javvie, and i had to strip it pretty far down to get it just under 1.5 oz. | |

| Out of curiosity, doesn't electrical tape tend to become sticky? | |

| yes, but only on gripped weapons, where you're holding the tape. I don't grip my javvies the way you'd grip a swung weapon, so I don't have that problem. | |

| Hmmmm... strange. Perhaps I'll play with it again- considering how cheap it is. | |

| The trick is to not pull it. It will skrink and leave the adhesive behind. | |
