New friend?........

His name is Ephraim, he stands 6’ tall, weighs 250lbs, with a husky, yet muscular build. He has tanned skin, the shade of dessert sand and black shoulder length hair like that of a wolf, a round face, with small, squinty eyes of dark brown like the bark of trees. Currently, he’s equipped with a 3ft broadsword and a 2’ and half foot shield, a dinghy looking chainmail vest over a just as dinghy white linen shirt, on his right arm, a full sleeve or hardened leather armor, on his left, just a bracer and shoulder cap. He wears a long black leather belt around his waist, he has on dark green linen pants tucked into his old brown leather boots. He is a former royal guard to his king, who was killed by a werewolf while they were en route to discuss a treaty to end the war that had ravaged his country for as long as he could remember. He was the only survivor, but living came at a cost, he to is a werewolf now. So now he works as an armed escort/ bodyguard to any who will hire him. Recently he failed to protect an old man on his way to a city called Haven, on his deathbed the old man asked Ephraim to deliver a parcel to a man named Iohn located in Haven, this is a tale of his journey.


"Dammit!" he exclaimed, realizing that he was, once again, lost in the woods, with only the vague directions from the old man to go by.” Did he say left path at the fork in the road or the right one?" he said aloud. "That depends," he heard a soft feminine voice say from behind him "on if you want to be robbed, or crushed" she giggled aloud. He turned to face her, hand on the grip of his sword unsure if she was friend or foe. She stood on the branch of a tree some 10 paces away, she was 5'6"ish and had flowing hair of deep red, which covered the right side of her face and fell past her shoulders. Her eyes were a deep green, the shade of leaves in the summer. Her skin was pale and luminous like a full moon and looked soft to the touch. She wore a long black billowy cloak that hid most of her body from sight; he did notice she wore small, black leather boots the kind normally only seen on assassins. "Just what do you mean?" he asks still unsure of her affiliation. “I mean im going to rob you and crush you with an enormous boulder, what do you think I mean?" she asks hypothetically "its quite simple, the path on the left leads to the cave of a troll, and the path to the right is currently overrun with bandits." she states " So, back to my previous question, do you want to be crushed or robbed?". "Well, in all honesty id rather like to avoid both any suggestions?" he asked with a concerned tone to his voice. "Let’s see, you could either go back the way you came, navigate a new path through the woods, or grow wings and fly". Damn he thought why did he have to be a werewolf, why couldn’t he be a were....Hawk. “That’s what I was afraid of, I really didn’t want to have to kill anyone, even if they are bandits" he muttered, "Ok, thank you for your help Miss" he says to her as he turns and goes down the path on the left. “Wait! That’s the wrong way!" she shouts in vain as he continues walking. Is he really that stupid? She asks herself “What an idiot" she says as she drops down from the branch and gives chase after him towards the cave.

"Overrun with bandits she said, you'll get robbed she said. What the hell does she know? I’ve been walking for an hour and nothing! Not even a deer." He whined walking down the narrow and ever darkening path towards, unbeknownst to him, the cave of a very hungry troll.

"How did he get so far ahead of me?" she asked aloud, as she continues to follow our hero in hopes of preventing what would most certainly be a terrible and gruesome death. Not much further to the troll's cave and it will be looking for dinner here before long, she thought, watching the sun slowly dip ever closer towards the horizon, I must hurry.

Well for now ill just set up camp in this cave he thought, slinging his pack, sword, and shield to the ground. "Now then, lets find some firewood, shall we" talking to himself as he rummages through his pack for his hatchet. "I really need to find a better place to keep this" he says grabbing it from his pack, off he goes into the woods, unaware of who, or what, is following him.

Finally, she reached the cave, only to discover the man’s belongings tossed from his pack and his sword and shield lying on the ground at the entrance to the cave. No, this cant be. He was just a few minutes ahead of me, she thought. An unexplained wave of sadness came over her. She couldn't understand why she was shedding tears over a man she had just met.
Then, all of sudden, She heard a booming roar not far away, it was the roar of a troll, and she knew it.
"I will have your head for this you ugly beast!" she shouted back in the direction the roar had come from, she drew her sword and dagger, and dashed of after the troll, to claim her revenge.......
