| Hello Haven! An idea is being disscussed on the Midwest boards that I hoped to get your input on. Imagine a map of units in the midwest that changes as battles at events are won or lost. the disscussion on the mid west boards can be found HERE . I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread here so that the discussion can include as many brilliant minds as possible. LOL | |

| Feed back from individuals/units/realms is very appreciated. Hoping to get something off the ground. At this point the idea of running a small full RP event using a later version of these rules is possible. | |

| I think it would definitely be fun to have an RP event run around something like this. (: | |

| This seems like a pretty sweet idea. I like the idea of battling for territories and stuff. Smaller realms might have a problem gaining strength, but they could form alliances with other realms and stuff. It would be cool | |

| I do like the idea of having terrain and such, though I wouldn't like "battling for territory" if people got really intense about it. | |

| I will Leave it up to the rest of the clan to decide for us. I don't see it as something that I as the wise son should have the final say on. | |

I can definitely see that being a problem, which would be the only reason I'd be leery of doing a battle like that. There are enough people on the field who are hot-heads even without battling for territory, so it's kind of scary to think of what might happen if they had actual incentive to win. I'm not sure I want to be around for that. o.o; However, if people are capable of acting mature, that wouldn't be an issue. But I think immaturity kind of defines most of us in Dagorhir, so it'd likely end up a problem at some point somehow. -.-

It's a necessary evil. The downside of letting everyone in, and not being elitist is that we get a lot of the people that other groups don't want to deal with. In my opinion, it's those other groups that are missing out. Dag people are usually much more mature than they get credit for, and even the ones who aren't are still fun to fight with. Let them have their fun.

| I guess the maturity I'm referring to here has to do with honor and not being a jerk on the field. There are regrettably a number of people out there who we all know don't take hits, and who we all know like to pick fights about shots, etc. Those are the only people with the potential to spoil something fun like this. And you have people like that in every sport, which is why I think it's a manageable problem (otherwise no one would play competitive sports of any kind), but it's still likely to be a problem. It might be good to have a way of controlling an issue if it got out of hand ahead of time because of that fact just as a precaution. | |

| Nah I don't think it's going to be an issue. Only people who are interested in coming out to an event with these rules/battles is going to want to come out.
How about some map info. I's like to work on a whole map that joins the midwest realms together. Any input on what you consider Haven to look like map wise? Like terrain and anything I'd need to make apparent for the realm's portion of the map?

| I think the biggest question about the map is the location of the realms. Haven is spread out between Rolla and Blue Springs. Maybe the two sections could appear as one on a map? | |

| Is the map a direct representation of actual geography? If it isn't, then Haven could still just be one place, since our realm's story is that of one area, not two.
We actually were playing around with a map of our own realm a while back. I think it might be in creative release. I don't know that anything was ever actually agreed upon, since it was mostly done for fun, but that might be a nice reference for what we look like anyhow.

I remembered our discussion of a Haven map as well and went looking for it. The thread I found is in the Discussion area. But I couldn't see the actual pictures. That topic pretty much died a long time ago. At least a couple of the members in it don't even get on the boards anymore, haha.

| we had a coast line in our map and forests and mountains...basically every kind of terrain so that we could all fit our back storys in. all these mountains and forests and whatnot surrounded a plain that the center city of haven was built upon. so that's my request i guess, lol although i think we should do away with the water, and maybe have a lake instead....if that works with your map (not sure how realistic you are going for ) | |

| I think we had an ocean because Tygrieve (and possibly one or two others) were pirates. I don't think they can be lake pirates, so... >.>; Might need to sort that one out, hahaha. | |

| Yarrrrr magma pirates! Hehe thanks for the feed back guys. I think we are going to develop a way to let each tram terraform their starting hexes possibly with some type of point system. I'll keep you guys posted. Also if you guys have the free time here's the documentary to the game Darkon. it was really cool to see how the map system and currency can change the aspects of boffer in small ways. It doesn't really talk about the points I want to adapt for fun much, such as structures, movement and land. It does however show a representation of boffer from inside looking out. Notice it's not just our sport that has infighting and issues. In the end though we all are brothers and sisters of something that brings us together. http://www.hulu.com/watch/68489/darkon | |
