If you didn't already know, Truman State University participates in Humans vs. Zombies [http://www.webfeatsdesign.com/hvz/rules.htm]. The virus will start spreading in approximately 8 hours and 50 minutes and is predicted to completely eliminate the human population in approximately 7 days. From here on out I will give you a daily update on what I witness in my attempt to survive. There will be over 200 players, so it should be interesting.

Epic Win. I just heard last night that Rolla will be playing Humans vs Zombies on wednesday. So keep us updated from Truman, this sounds awesome.

DAY 1

1020 hours: I haven't left my room yet. My first class starts in little over an hour. But resources indicate that at least 8 of the resistance have fallen. And the original zombie still has almost 14 hours to wreak havoc before being identified. I fear I may not survive the day. Hopefully I make it back to my room coherent enough to update my journal.

1235 hours: I survived my first excursion to class. The horde is steadily gaining numbers. The word is that there are at least 23 zombies in the area now, and the original zombies are still unrecognizable. I know of one comrade who was taken by the virus. Thankfully my other comrades are still clean. I need to find food, so I must take leave of my sanctuary for now.

1350 hours: I successfully had lunch without falling victim to the rapidly spreading virus. There were a few zombies at the feeding grounds, but they left without incident. I have another class soon, but it's fairly close, so I should be able to make it. I feel jumpy and paranoid whenever I'm outside. Every second outdoors is a second closer to death.

1530 hours: There are 7 humans in my music class, including myself. If any of them are turned, stress levels will substantially increase. My only hope would be to wait it out, because music is my last class. I saw a brief skirmish just after class, but I couldn't tell what the results were. The horde is 41 strong though, and it will only grow. I'm going with one of my room mates to a career expo in a building across campus. It's a dangerous and ultimately unnecessary excursion, but I need an idea of what cross-campus travel will be like. The pressure is increasing, and this is only Day 1.

1611 hours: The trek across campus has passed and I maintain my humanity. I believe I may have seen an original zombie waiting in front of Violette Hall, but I can't be certain. There was another zombie roaming around between VH and Magruder Hall. Luckily I avoided them both. I've made an interesting observation: one of the turned actually aided me by informing me of an original zombie's deceitful tactics. Apparently he had kept some of his humanity as well. It makes me wonder if this is some new strain of the virus. In any case, zombies with the cognitive capacities of humans are even more deadly. The day isn't over yet. I still have plenty of time to die.

1813 hours: The first attempt on my life has been made. My hands are shaking as I write these words. I was able to neutralize the zombie before contact was made, thanks to his indiscretion upon exiting MO Hall. The horde has 63 members at the moment. There will undoubtedly be more before the day is over. I will exercise more caution when leaving any building, and I will probably always be running. I feel the end of my humanity drawing nearer and nearer.

2028 hours: I have survived Day 1. There were some close calls, and a lot of stress. My comrades in the resistance are just as jumpy and nervous as I am. But we've made it through the first day. As long as we remain vigilant, we might stand a chance. Only time will tell.

Stay tuned for Day 2 tomorrow! We start getting missions tomorrow, so if I stay human, things should get more interesting.

Stop browsing the forums on my computer whenever I leave the room! >.< You didn't even log out. Stupid butt.

Again, Constantine, this is an absolutely wonderful read. I hope you keep it up. I'll be sad once you become a zombie because it'll be the end of these posts. ;.; Stay human!

I love the use of military time.

I'm unfamiliar with the game, where can I find the rules?

You think the posts will end if I turn zombie, haha. I'm afraid not. I have an idea that will keep these accounts alive.

DAY 2

1040 hours: Zombie activity is relatively low today. I've only seen a few so far, and they were inside buildings. Traveling has been low-stress, especially when accompanied by a couple of comrades. The horde already has 100 members. That's almost a third of the resistance gone. Further observation of the zombies has revealed that they have maintained most motor functions. They can walk and run normally. They can also speak, and from the looks of it, they have the capacity to plan. By most observations, they appear human, and yet they still hunt for the flesh of humans. This is unlike any virus I've heard of before. I wish I could take a sample to analyze. But that would be much too dangerous. For now I can only avoid contact as much as possible.

1725 hours: I spoke too soon. The zombies were everywhere. I survived the first mission, though. It seems as though a type of nanotechnology originally designed to be a cure for the virus has been captured and reverse-engineered to replicate the virus' effects. The zombies then attempted to gain control of the computer network via several nodes around the area. We were able to defend two of them successfully, but the others were taken. The effects of our losses have yet to be determined. We lost some brave comrades today. Hopefully we remaining can last a while longer.

2217 hours: The second day is almost over and I'm still human. I'm proud to have lasted this long when so many of my comrades fell so quickly. The dangers of traveling will continue to increase, and getting to and from class will surely become nigh impossible, but I look forward to the challenge. Right now there is almost nobody outside-probably because it was raining earlier-and I was so bored being cooped up in my room that I thought about walking around campus. But I decided against it, thinking it would be foolish. I'd rather stay safe and human as long as possible. It's getting late anyway, and I'll be going to sleep soon. I wonder what tomorrow will bring.

DAY 3

1015 hours: The horde outnumbers the resistance 155 to 131. As our numbers steadily dwindle, I become more and more afraid with each venture outdoors. I've taken to finding backstreets and alternate routes to my destinations. I have no qualms with leaving an hour early to get to a place 5 minutes away. I only hope my caution isn't in vain.

1320 hours: I saw almost no zombies outside today. I've been incredibly lucky. The horde now has 164 members, and the rumor is that they have a leader now. The humans are making advancements as well, however. Last night the resistance was able to successfully receive a heavy weapons shipment containing automatic weapons. The humans that are left should be better able to defend themselves now. I shall maintain my clandestine habits, slipping around unnoticed. It's gotten me this far. But we have another mission later today, and I'm afraid the missions are very likely to get me killed. I won't go down without a fight though.

1517 hours: I was a fool. I tried to make it to the library and back, but realized half way there that the library is a death trap, with only one entrance/exit. On my way back some zombies spotted me and trapped me in the Kirk Hall. Luckily I was able to get the attention of a group of humans from MO Hall, who were just setting out on a rescue mission to the Student Union Building. They were able to pick me up on the way. We saw no zombies after that. But I won't be venturing from my room unless necessary anymore. I nearly died because of my foolishness.

1905 hours: We lost our mission. I don't know how many, if any, humans were taken. This is very frustrating. The resistance is not very well coordinated. Most of us don't have a clear understanding of the mission objectives, or the new developments that occur while we're trying to accomplish them, so we end up with a bunch of people who don't really know what's going on following a couple of people who are making snap decisions. (Out of story: some of the freakin' zombie bastards shout our locations even after they've been stunned, the filthy @*#^$s. They're not supposed to do that. Thankfully they're being banned if the moderators find out). Hopefully the next mission goes better. We're all intelligent people. We should be able to work together more effectively than we have been.

This is totally epic! Alec, you win 9000 internetz FTW.

And if its this epic just hearing about it, I can't wait till Rolla starts their HvZ game next week. @.@ I need to modify my nerf Maverick too. In case anyone was wondering, the Maverick - IMHO - is the best nerf gun out there.
