| Do the people in Rolla have a specific person that runs new members through basic Dag rules when they want to try out? Because I think it would be a good idea for there to be a specific person or group of people in charge of that. Somebody posted on Kairi's note saying that there are a lot of rules and it's intimidating to try and join a group full of experts. I figured if there was a person whose job it was to show people how it works it would make it easier for new people, instead of handing them a weapon, having a bunch of different people spout various rules at them, and then tell them to start fighting. I don't know if that's what happens at your practices, it was just a thought. | |

| Generally, myself, Iohn, or Angus (generally whoever is available and paying attention, which is usually me since I take care of waivers) explains the rules officially, and almost always it's only one or two of us at a time. One particular person might not be necessary, but having two or three people designated as the person who gives new members the run-down of things isn't a bad idea. | |

| That's actually going to be an official office, once we finish the Boffer club constitution. We will have a safety officer in charge of explaining (and enforcing) all of the rules at practice. | |

| Yeah, I figured it would help things run more smoothly to have someone teach new people the basic stuff and then do a duel or two before throwing them into a larger battle. | |

| Plus, it makes them welcomed among strangers. Being ignored sucks. Having a person run up to you, sputtering welcomes and rules, giving you a weapon, and shoving you back on the field is awesome. | |

| Generally one or two of us will go and show them how the rules. One of the first things we do is let them take one of the weapons and hit us as hard as they want to reinforce that these are safe. Then we go over hit locations and death rules, then what weapons do what (red, blue, shield breaking) give them some general warnings like, getting hit in the head happens, don't take it personally, and the like, then do a couple duels and then if they feel comfortable get into a big battle. At least that's how we've done it at truman most of the time. | |
