Practice 3/1/09

Canceled due to the snow. >.< Blah.

It'll be great when spring finally gets here and we don't have these problems. I look forward to fighting with you guys again in the summer, too.

This summer will be awesome. I'm excited to fight with everyone back home more and see how far we've all come in fighting skill.

I don't think I've advanced very much as far as skill goes. I feel about the same as always: cautious and defensive. I still like to get people to fall for feints and such. But we'll see how things go once I get my red finished, because I've used blues almost exclusively since I started Dag, and I think I'd be a beast with a red.

I have a feeling you'd do well, too. I'd be excited to face off with you, red vs. red. That's probably my favourite weapon set to duel.

I'd take that challenge. If I can get the red finished by Gates, you can have the honor of being the first person to fight against it, haha. Provided it passes.

what kinda red are you making? i made one a little over four feet in three days, but then again i have made a ton of stuff.

The core will be around 47", so altogether it should be just over 48". I just don't have anything to cut the points off of the fiberglass, or a good location to do the DAPing. So I'm waiting until I go home next week. Once I'm home, I can finish the whole sword in a day.

I'd be honored to be the first to fight you. If you're able to get it done, definitely set aside some sparring time with me. ^.^

well three days in a dorm, working for ten min and then stoping. even with that little amount of time the floor still smelled of dap

I'm pretty sure the majority of 2 South smells like DAP most of the time. -.-;

Yeah, I refuse to make things in the dorms. I don't want to offend anyone with the pervasive, toxic fumes, and I don't want to risk making a mess all over the carpet and having to pay for it for some reason. In the future I probably won't even bring weapon making supplies to school. I'll just make things during breaks.

i enjoy weaponsmithing too much to wait until breaks. lol i've only made a few things at home.

I think RC2's first floor lobby is a great work space.

lots of space, couches, markerboards, tables, whatever you need
big screen tv with surround sound and dvd player
big area outside with tables if you need to DAP stuff
lots of exposure (good for talking to new people about Dag)
the "field of dreams" can also be used as a practice field to test out your creations

Is the 'field of dreams' that field that's between the two buildings? I walked past that the other day and actually thought, "That wouldn't be a bad place to practice if the Puck is ever overrun."

Yeah, they insist on calling it that, I've always found it humerous.

Haha, ok. I just didn't realize that was the field we'd always been talking about. It really isn't too bad as a backup option.

its kinda small but it is lit, which is nice when it gets dark, but soon we will have another hour of sunlight!!! yay!!

@ constantine: I foamsmith in our lounge indoors all the time. I use the environmentally friendly, fumeless DAP that comes in a green can (which will, I'm finding out, bind just as well as regular DAP if you apply about 1.5 times as much as you would the normal stuff and wait about 30 minutes between layers). I lay down sheets of the school newspaper (it's free!) to catch any drips. Though I'm sure it'd be easier to do this stuff at home...

I use the DAP original because it a cheap way to get high while foamsmithing. Sadly, its is not conducive to completing homework assignments.

I just use carpet tape. No fumes, no wait and only a few strange rituals needed to ensure solid bonding.
