So yeah today Bai-Yi actually died T.T, twas VERY sad. i noticed the foam was lose and when i hit it on the ground the core twisted the rest of the foam off, so basicly the core seperated from foam, but tis alright all the foam is still good and sticking together, i'm goin to wrap the duct tape with cloth tape and redap it all and Bai-Yi shall live again. ALSO on a side note PRACTICE KICKED AZZ...

It died when we went to Joppy T.T, before practice even began. Yesterday Eph and I went to the Ravenwood realm battle down in Joplin. 3 hour drive, but totally worth it, some of Dom and centrawoven made it out. IT WAS AWSOME..

@ Iohn: tis not my fault that is on my shield i asked Tygreive to put the BloodMoon on it and instead he put the Haven symbol on it, sry i haven't had the time to recover my shield yet,i'll do it shortly don't worry.

@Orrin i did but i'm apperantly not a citizen, so basicly i'm almost exactly the same as i was before the post of rejoining...

even if thats the case i'm refusing to pay.. here in BS it's pointless, we all pay for our own things. besides where would that money go, and i don't see why we need to pay anyway, i mean Alterra makes you pay but really not many peeps know where that money even goes to, and nowhere else makes you pay, i don't see a point in us(at least in BS) to pay dues. they don't effect us.

To put this thread back on topic and referring to our beloved Bai Yi, how did you prepare the cores? It's dual core PVC unless I remember totally incorrectly, did you just sand the cores and do a box-style blade? If they keep twisting, what could you do to stop them from doing that? I'd try dowel rods or something in between the pipes o:o wrapped in some kind of tape so they can't wiggle around. But I've never done a dual-core PVC weapon. I'm particularly interested cuz if we make dual-core Reds with wider diameter Fiberglass rods, the same thing might happen to them. I imagine the blade-side core was pushed to the side every time you hit someone/something, but I don't know what to do to keep that from happening.

Since you are up there, next time you hit dominion, talk to Fafnir. He builds dualcore fiberglass all the time.

And that is one sexy leg. You left before I took my nasty hit. I got shield bashed into a tree head first. But, I wrapped both swords around and got him mid-bash, so I am happy.

aww i missed you getting damaged, and i know i have sexy legs, have no idea whyt he girls don't flock to them, rofl, and Svip, Bai-yi was my first ever sword, it lasted 8 months w/o an repairs, literally all the foam came off the core. and all i did to the core was i wrapped it in a couple spot with duck tape lol, then did the box style, the blade was so that the two would hit on eachother. actually it twisted for another reason, when we got to joplin it felt like the foam was kinda coming off, well i wanted to test to see if the sword was still good, so i smacked it on the ground like i usually do, when i did i think the core twisted because the foam was coming off, actually all the foam is intact, i could litterally just redap it all together again.lol, but while down there i was told that i should put liqued nails inbetween the pvc and down the sides in the gap, and Orrin said wrap the duck tape with cloth tape so the dap will adhere to it,(though i used duct tape on my punch to keep the fiberglass in place and it's holding up fine)

ummmm, which weapons thing?
Short answer: Once you fix it, yes.
You could use it for the "Soldiery" challenge if you let someone take a look at the foam once it's put back together to make sure it doesn't have abhorrent cuts and excessive use of duct tape, etc, though for that you'd need either a sword or a shield to go with it that also conforms to the standards stated there (fair design and construction, basically something that'll be safe and last for a while). All it has to do is pass at a single practice and you could use it for "Tooth and Nail", though you'd need a blue, a green, a white and a yellow to finish that one.
You wouldn't be able to use it for the Journeyman Challenge "Bladehand", those weapons should be built as loaner weapons and should be used by other people for a long period of time before they are judged.
Also: The grip tape will adhere better to DAPped surfaces. Duct tape just doesn't hold as well.

Tyr. We all decided on what the requirements for citizenship were going to be when we had our meetings over the summer. You were there both times if I remember correctly. If you had an issue with paying dues, why didn't you say something? The dues are used for a number of things, but mostly they go to making copies of waivers, buying foamsmithing supplies, practice props (rope and stakes, ect), to buy fabric for garb, and to help people pay for event fees. There is a good reason why we have dues and $5.00 isn't excessive. Citizenship is dedication to the realm, and dues are a way for everyone to help everyone. Yeah it sounds a bit communist, but the principle of dues is not so everyone has to be totally self-sufficient, but so the citizens can help each other out with acquiring loaner garb, weapon supplies, gas money, ect.

IF the dues really are this much of an issue, talk with Turrin and Tygrieve about lowering the dues charged. And as a side note, all provinces MUST maintain accurate records of finances so people DO know what they're being used for.

the thing i see is Iohn up here we usually do help eachother out, we tend to spend MORE than that usually in one month, heck i just gave Tygreive like 1/4 mile of wire for mail, and i help out others all the time, and i provide loaner weapons, i mean, i think that for us we pay more than that.

Well then keep in mind that it is up to each province how they want to collect dues. Ideally, the cash is easiest to use on things that are needed. But if someone wants to alternatively make loaner weapons for free, it will be up to the councilor what he/she feels is $5.00 and what is above and beyond the requirement.

I do not decide who is and is not a citizen, your local councilor does. So until I have been notified, I won't know any more than Graymael if someone is or is not a citizen of Haven. If you have done these things for the realm, I don't see why that couldn't waive the $5.00 requirement, but make sure you talk to your councilor about it.

BAI-YI LIVES AGAIN, though not for much longer lol, it hits a little hard but not bad, after this weekend though i'm goin to dimantle my comrad and give him a fiberglass core, maybe i can find 5' fiberglass, or i could have it had a HUGE blade and very little handle, then it would be one of a kind lol..

there's a store that sells 5' Fiberglass rods here, in 1/2" diameter. If you want, I can pick up one(or more) and bring them to Gates w/ me.
